2013 cadillac ats review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. And while it may not rule the roost, the cadillac ats is definitely in the game.  the 2013 cadillac ats was designed and engineered from the ground-up on an all-new platform. Its compact size marks a turning point for cadillac, which has bought into the same sausage, different lengths philosophy of the germans and now has true compact, midsize and full-size sedans in its lineup. Each uses direct injection and variable valve timing to maximize performance and fuel efficiency. The base engine is a 2. 5-liter naturally aspirated inline-4, good for 202 horsepower and 191 pound-feet of torque. It's the least expensive and slowest of the bunch, with a manufacturer estimated 0-60 mph time of 7. 5 seconds. A sprightly 2. 0-liter turbo makes 272 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque and can go 0-60 mph in an estimated 5. 7 seconds with the automatic transmission, or 5. 8 seconds with the available manual. The top-of-the-line powertrain is gm's much-used 3. 6-liter naturally aspirated v6, good in this application for 321 hp and 275 lb-ft. Of torque, which propels the ats from 0-60 mph in just 5. 4 seconds. Driving dynamics are further enhanced by an all-new five-link independent rear suspension and optional brembo brakes with an all-new, high-tech coating that keeps the rotors looking as good as they perform. Magnetic ride control, now in its third iteration, is optional on most ats models, which adjust suspension real-time for even more responsive driving.  inside, fit and finish rivals that of any audi or bmw, although we found some interior configuration options limiting. Upper trim levels of the ats use cue, cadillac's new touchscreen interface. An acronym for cadillac user experience, the large screen uses proximity sensors, haptic feedback and voice recognition to control phone, audio and navigation functions. Unlike many luxury vehicles with proprietary interfaces (like the bmw idrive and mercedes benz's comand system), there is no central control knob on the center console and all functions are performed either through voice or via the touchscreen. However, cue doesn't appear on the base model, and navigation costs extra on all but the most expensive trim levels.  fuel economy for the cadillac ats 2. 5-liter model with rear-wheel drive is an epa-estimated 22/33 mpg city/highway and, unlike its german rivals, regular gasoline is recommended. The ats with 3. 6-liter v6 is rated at 19/28 mpg, also on regular gas, or 18/26 mpg with all-wheel drive. Each comes in a variety of trim levels, with most trims similarly equipped across all engine choices. Most models come with a 6-speed automatic transmission, but the 2. 0-liter turbo can be had with a 6-speed manual transmission. Stepping up to the luxury collection 38,485) adds leather upholstery, 8-way power driver and passenger seats, unique exterior and interior trim, brembo performance front brakes and unique 17-inch wheels.  the 2. 0-liter turbo standard trim is available with 6-speed manual transmission 34,615) or 6-speed automatic transmission 35,795). It's also available with all-wheel drive and the automatic transmission 37,795). The 2. 0-liter turbo luxury trim is available with manual 39,110), automatic 40,290), or awd automatic 42,290). The performance collection is available with a manual 41,510) or automatic transmission 42,790) or with awd and an automatic 44,790). Performance trim includes the cue touchscreen interface, bluetooth streaming audio, bose surround system with cd player, and a driver awareness package that includes rear thorax airbags, rain-sensing automatic wipers, lane departure warning and forward collision alert. An optional driver assist package 3,645) adds adaptive cruise control, front and rear automatic brake, head-up display, side blind zone alert and rear cross-traffic detection.  options include navigation 795) and a cold weather package 600) that incudes heated front seats and a heated steering wheel.  the 2. 0-liter with premium trim includes magnetic ride control and 18-inch wheels and is available with 6-speed automatic 45,790), 6-speed manual 44,315), or awd automatic 46,890).  the 3. 6-liter v6 engine can be equipped with the luxury trim 42,090) or luxury awd 44,090), performance 44,590) performance awd 46,590), premium 47,590) or premium awd 48,690). Most features on each trim level are the same as those found on 2. 0-liter turbo variants.  safety features on all models include driver and front passenger frontal airbags, knee and side airbags, and front and rear head curtain airbags; traction control, electronic stability control and anti-lock brakes. Optional rearview camera can help the driver spot a small child behind the car when backing up. Side blind zone alert and rear cross-traffic detection can help the driver spot other vehicles and possibly reduce the chance of an accident. Optional all-wheel drive can improve handling stability in slippery conditions. walkaroundexterior styling on the ats is bold, continuing cadillac's art and science design language that's been in use for a decade. The design stems from early sketches that came out of gm's london studio, with the bulk of the exterior and interior refined and finished by designers from both the michigan and california studios. The ats will be built at gm's lansing grand river assembly plant in michigan.  lines are cleaner and certain features are less over the top than those on other cars in this class and are more proportionate to (and appropriate for) its smaller size. But the ats is still unmistakably a cadillac, which will please brand loyalists and appeal to those who are looking for something unique in a sea of sameness, but may prove a tough sell for european-luxury car enthusiasts who prefer sultry swoops to caddy's sharp geometric shapes.  headlamps on the ats use cadillac's signature vertical shape, with long, tapering tails that stretch up alongside the hood line. Vertical foglamps underneath accentuate the upright look of the front fascia. The front grille and air intakes are large, but not gratuitous, and are separated, in cadillac style, by a sharp, three-dimensional angular crease. The front end is not only aesthetic, but functional: inside the front grille are shutters that automatically close at certain highway speeds to reduce aerodynamic drag and help fuel economy.  from the side, the ats appears squared-off, but not as wedge-y as the cts. A rising character line along the bottom is evident, but not overdone. The roofline slopes gently past the c-pillar, and isn't as steeply raked as some sporty compact cars, presumably for the sake of rear passenger headroom. Chrome accents on window surrounds and door handles, as well as polished 17-inch wheels (with optional 18s), convey a look that's more luxurious over sporty. In addition, the brembo performance brakes that come on some ats models use a special ferritic nitro-carburizing (fnc) coating, which helps to prevent corrosion and keeps them looking shiny.  in back, the vertical lines are repeated in the tail lamps. A long, thin horizontal led brake doubles as a rear spoiler. The license plate is framed in shapes that would make euclid (the father of geometry) proud. The rear bumper echoes the front with its sharp center crease. interioras with other cadillac interiors, materials on the ats are high-quality and luxurious. Front seats make driver and passenger feel like each is in her own compartment, flanked by an armrest at one hand, and a high center console on the other. The interior design echoes the lines and shapes of the outside, with sharp angles and rising lines th. Anti-lock Brakes✔ Climate Control✔ Cruise Control✔ CD Player✔ Bluetooth

2011 jeep grand cherokee review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. All-new, with silky new v6 and taut suspension. introductioneverything about the 2011 jeep grand cherokee is new and excellent, including a lowered price. There's a new dohc v6 that's smooth and powerful, making 290 horsepower and getting 16-23 mpg. There's a new super-stiff chassis with well-tuned independent front and rear suspensions that provide a comfortable ride on any surface, with solid and secure cornering. It's 3 inches wider for better handling and more hip room, with a wheelbase that's increased by 5 inches while overall length is only increased 1. 8 inches, thanks to a reduced front overhang.  the interior is stylish and made with high quality materials, especially the leather seats in the laredo models. Nothing is missed in the standard safety equipment.  the standard engine is a sweet new 3. 6-liter v6 with double overhead-cams making 290 horsepower and 290 pound-feet of torque. The big 5. 7-liter v8 hemi is still an option for all models. The 4x4 v6 uses a single-speed transfer case, while the 4x4 v8 uses a two-speed transfer case with selec-terrain and hill descent control. There are three levels of 4wd capability. Quadra-trac i is a full-time system with a single-speed transfer case and 48-52 front-rear transfer. Quadra-trac ii uses a two-speed transfer case and electronic sensors that distribute the torque according to tire slippage, up to 60 percent to front or rear wheels. Quadra-drive ii is available with an electronic limited-slip rear differential. Additionally, a traction control system called selec-terrain is standard with quadra-trac ii and quadra-drive ii; it allows the driver to set the for five different terrain situations. Normal, sport, snow, sand/mud, and rock. Laredo x 4,000) upgrades to leather seating, heated front seats, 18-inch aluminum wheels, nine-speaker 506-watt cd/dvd/hdd/mp3 audio, rearview camera, hands-free communication, 115-volt power outlet, and remote starting.  grand cherokee limited 36,320) and 4wd 38,820) add heated rear seats, bi-xenon headlamps with auto leveling, dual-pane panoramic sunroof with power shade, navigation, rain-sensitive windshield wipers. Also touches of brightness like: silver strakes in rear cargo area, door sill scuff pads with bright insert and jeep logo, body-colored fascias with bright insert, bright door handles, bright exhaust tip. The v8 1,495) is optional.  grand cherokee overland 38,715) and 4wd 41,120) feature an air suspension system and nappa leather seating with piping, ventilated front seats, wood and leather heated steering wheel with memory, cargo net, power liftgate, premium audio with navigation and sirius travel-traffic information, 20-inch aluminum wheels. The v8 1,495) is optional.  safety equipment includes electronic stability control, electronic roll mitigation, abs with brake traction control system, trailer sway control, hill start assist, hill descent control, frontal airbags, front side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, active head restraints, and tire pressure monitor.  options include uconnect media center, flo tv, rear-seat entertainment system, sirius backseat tv, sirius xm satellite radio, uconnect web, uconnect navigation, and uconnect phone.  note: all prices are manufacturer's suggested retail prices (msrp) as of may 12, 2010, which may change without notice at any time. Prices do not include destination charges. walkaroundevery inch of sheetmetal is new, although it's still so unmistakably grand cherokee that it's not going to turn heads. Few will say, wow, look at that new jeep, although they probably should, because it's so much cleaner. This brings better economy, with less interior noise. It has a wider stance and shorter nose with less front overhang, giving it a subtle look of substance. It's a fast windshield, meaning more sloped than before.  and it definitely has substance, being longer and heavier, stretched in the wheelbase by 5. 3 inches, although it's only 1. 8 inches longer overall thanks to less front overhang. It's also 3 inches wider, for better handling and more interior space.  the seven-slot chrome grille is defined by six chrome slats over the black slots, while the headlamps sweep like winglets out from the top corners. Smooth frontal fascia with black airdam, recessed to lessen drag, and tidy small foglamps in trapezoid pockets. Aerodynamic bellypans run the full length of the chassis, chasing fuel mileage.  the sides have big rectangular concave sculpting, as if it's a place where jeep meets bmw, and slightly trapezoidal wheel arches, a distinctive if still subtle touch. The side glass is straight and unaffected, with black b pillars, darkly tinted glass and stainless steel trim. Cool.  jeep says the rear styling gives a nod to the 1963 wagoneer that started it all, and it's true (although we wonder how many besides us will remember mom's '63 wagoneer in high school that we snuck to the drag strip in the next state, one sunday afternoon, and ripped off crowd-pleasing 4-wheel-drive holeshots).  the backlight balances the slope of the windshield, although, retro touch notwithstanding, the entire rear view looks like that of a thousand other full-size suvs. That's because function rules, as it should; when suv rear-end styling gets fancy, visibility is often lost. We also like the flipper glass window in the liftgate, which has a convenient opening handle. The vehicle locks with the press of a button on the door handle, like at the tailgate. This is nice.  the body-colored parts in the laredo (mirrors, door handles, ding strip) look better than the chrome trim on the upscale overland, whose 20-inch wheels with five thick spokes just look big and bright and unimaginative. Far more jeeps will be laredo models (65 percent, expects jeep) with 17- or 18-inch wheels, which look better.  there are some new colors, including a dark green that's non-metallic, bringing a welcome and rugged touch, like a nod to the wrangler. interiorno jeep has ever felt this high-quality inside (especially when it gets rolling). A fold-flat front seat is standard, adding to the 68. 7 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats flat. The rear seats recline 18 degrees, and with the added legroom, life is easy back there. The grand cherokee would make a great family vacation vehicle. There's also an abundance of storage pockets and bins, including two bins under the cargo floor. A new rear suspension allows the spare tire to be stored inside the vehicle under the cargo floor, as opposed to underneath it.  the front door openings are 2 inches wider and 2 inches higher, and the rear doors open 78 degrees compared to 67 degrees on the previous model. That increased convenience is just one of the many details that make the 2011 grand cherokee such an improvement.  jeep engineers also spent a lot of time on nvh, and their work is reflected in the very quiet cabin, even with the throttle floored, even over rough pavement. We haven't seen a model with cloth seats, but jeep has always done good rugged cloth. The stitching on the overland's leather dashboard looks classy.  the instrument panel is redesigned, nicely, with clean white numbers and needles and nice backlight. The tachometer adds a blue area, from 800 to 2500 rpm, a reminder of the best fuel-mileage range.  the three-spoke steering wheel tilts and telescopes, and includes cruise control with audio buttons at the back of the spokes. The overland steering wheel is wood from about 10 to 2, and it makes the steering wheel too thick, because of the heating ele. 2014 ford flex review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The ford flex is a full-size family vehicle that features three-rows of seating, bold styling and is highly functional. The flex competes directly in the popular crossover segment. The front-wheel or all-wheel drive flex is powered by a 285-hp 3. 5-liter ti-vct v6 engine. Available on the all-wheel drive limited only is the 355-hp 3. 5-liter twin-turbo ecoboost v6 engine. Both engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with selectshift. Available features include a multi-panel vista roof, interior refrigerator, and capless fueling. After a 2013 refresh, the flex rolls into 2014 unchanged. Anti-lock Brakes

2007 toyota tundra review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. All-new, and most impressive. introductionwith the 2007 tundra, toyota has decided to get serious about the light-duty truck market. Gone is what some derisively called a '7/8s' pickup. In its place is an honest-to-goodness, full-size, half-ton pickup that raises the competitive bar.  other than some basic, no more than skin-deep styling cues that keep an appropriate modicum of faith with what has gone before, everything about the 2007 toyota tundra is new. It's available in three bed lengths and three different wheelbases. There are three engine choices, a v6 and two v8s, and a choice of five-speed and six-speed automatics. Three trim levels, dx, sr5 and limited, offer seating for two, three, five or six. In all, toyota says the '07 tundra has 31 different build configurations.  payload ratings range from 1410 pounds to 2060 pounds. An available deck rail system in the bed anchors moveable tie-down cleats rated at 220 pounds. Maximum towing capacity tops out at 10,800 pounds, at launch best in class.  a dvd-based, gps-linked navigation system with backup camera is available. So is a state-of-the-art, rear-seat entertainment system with a nine-inch lcd that's the equal of anything in the class. With the front bucket seats comes a center console storage system that's as close to a mobile office as any honest pickup should be.  fully contemporary suspension design smoothes the ride and gets some interesting, geometric tweaks in the rear that improve stability and steering response. Standard electronic stability control, plus traction control and limited slip differential, adds a comforting level of occupant safety.  clearly, the full-size pickup market is undergoing dramatic change. Nissan led the way with the titan, but has been hampered by a limited lineup. Toyota wasn't about to make the same mistake, and it obviously hasn't, whether in a variety of models, powertrains, trim levels or interior features.  if ford, chevrolet (and gmc) and dodge think they're hearing something behind them and are worried it's gaining, they're right. They are, they should be, because it is. lineupthe 2007 toyota tundra lineup comes in five different setups. The double cab features rear side doors, forward-hinged like on an suv, and seats for as many as six; the double cab comes with the standard bed or the long bed. Then there's the crewmax, with full-size rear side doors, and the short bed.  the base engine is a 236-hp 4. 0-liter v6. Next up is a 271-hp 4. 7-liter v8. At the top is a 381-hp 5. 7-liter v8. The 4. 0-liter and 4. 7-liter engines come with a five-speed automatic, the larger v8 comes with a six-speed automatic. All have a manual gear-selection feature. A fabric-upholstered, 40/20/40-split, bench seat, vinyl floor covering, column shift and manual-crank windows are standard. The manual air conditioning is dual-zone, though, and the steering wheel tilts. Toyota's unique, gas strut-boosted, tailgate assist is standard, too. The sr5 package includes chrome bumpers and grille surround; power windows, door locks and outside mirrors; cruise control; variable intermittent wipers, and upgraded upholstery fabric and carpet.  sr5 trim is available in all three cab configurations. Other driver-assist and creature-comfort upgrades include power windows, central locking and outside mirrors; cruise control; keyless remote; two more speakers, for a total of six; a third power point; carpeted floor mats; and rear seat heater duct. Exterior trim is upgraded with chrome bumpers and a chrome grille. The v8 towing package is standard on the long bed. The multi-function mirrors come standard with the 5. 7-liter v8.  additional options include a jbl am/fm/cd stereo with six-disc, in-dash changer, 10 speakers, bluetooth and leather-trimmed steering wheel with redundant audio controls; dvd-based navigation system with backup camera; and running boards. Outside, the front bumper is color keyed, while the rear bumper remains chromed, as does the grille surround, although now the grille bars get chrome, too. The outside mirrors upgrade to chrome, heat, auto-dimming and integrated turn signals. Fog lamps, engine skid plate and bed-mounted, deck rail system with adjustable tie-down cleats are standard, too. P275/65r18 tires on aluminum alloy wheels are standard, p2275/55r20 on alloy wheels optional.  the crewmax comes in sr5 or limited trim. Headlights are set into the fenders and separated from the bumper, itself bottom-loaded with black resin, chrome finish or body colored, again by trim choice.  the side view is rather bland, very toyota-like, with understated fender flares tied together by a gentle indent along the lower door panels. The optional towing mirrors look overly large on the regular and double cab models. Deep recesses make beefy door handles easy to grip. Body proportions comfortably accommodate the three bed lengths and three wheelbases. No stand-out styling cues here, save maybe for the backup lights, which are dimensionally almost the equal of the taillights.  finally, the toyota tundra is a full-size pickup. In all but one or two dimensions, the tundra's three different beds are within mere tenths of an inch of the competition's comparables, in most cases on the plus side. The short bed on the chevrolet silverado and gmc sierra measures 2. 3 inches longer than its tundra counterpart, the ram standard bed is 2. 4 inches shorter, and the silverado's beds are 1. 2 inches shallower, the ram's beds two inches shallower. interiorinterior ergonomics are way above par for full-size pickups. The seats are comfortably cushioned without being soft, with modest side bolsters in front. Deep seat bottoms provide ample thigh support. Fabric upholstery feels durable, likewise the leather, which is more of a heavy-duty grade than luxurious.  visibility is unparalleled; even the rear seat entertainment system's drop-down lcd is only barely noticeable in the rear view mirror.  dash-mounted controls, most of the more critical and frequently used large knobs with solid detents, show preference to work gloves over polished fingernails. The steering wheel, the largest in any toyota, is properly scaled for the largest toyota pickup. The floor-mounted shift lever feels more natural and more precise, with the manual-select gate on the driver's side of the gate, than the column-shift, but neither transmit any sloppiness.  the tundra has a roomy cab.
